Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri Dixit is a famous Indian actor, known for her performances in the movies Beta Saajan as well as Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! The actress was initially famous for her 1980s role in Tezaab, in which she co-starred with an established actor Anil Koopor. Her next appearance on the screen was in Dil with Aamir. As a young child growing up in Mumbai's middle class she began to learn how to dance. As a teen, she attempted acting, but most of her early movies failed. Her breakthrough came when she finally had success and went on to be one of the top actors in the Indian film industry. The marriage of her mother led to a pause from her acting career. The actress returned in later years. Recently, she played a major part as a character in Gulaab Gang. The film focused on the struggles of women across India. Dixit was nominated for fifteen Filmfare Awards, out of which she won eight. Padma Shri is the fourth most prestigious civilian award in India. She also has a reputation as a social activist.
